Ft. project presented several design and construction challenges. The unusually long, and narrow as well as side sloped nature of the site required both cut and fill grading and the use of a series of landscape concrete retaining walls to create a flat building pad for the house as well as the swimming pool and the backyard.
The turn of the century era railroad site also presented an excavation challenge for the Grade Beam and Pier foundation due to boulders placed underneath the rails for substructure.
The building structure was comprised of wood framing, several steel moment frames, and prefabricated roof trusses supporting a clay tiled roof.
